If you are considering working with an anti-human trafficking organization, here are some questions you can ask in order to determine if they are worthy of your Time, your Talent, or your Treasure (Money). We’ve taken quite a bit of time to frame these questions effectively. Try to ask them exactly as they are written here in order to get the best response:
How do you conduct intervention and rescue of victims?
What aftercare do you provide directly for victims?
How long do you continue to work with victims?
What model of Best Practices for Victim Care do you follow?
What training and experience does your intervention staff have?
What is your relationship with local law enforcement in the areas where you find victims?
What role do Survivors play in your organization?
Can you tell me about some of your most successful efforts with victims?
How long has your organization been doing this work?
Do you have written long-term plan for your organization?
How do you raise your operating funds?
“Can you provide me with your financial statements from last year?” If they provide them for you, take a close look at them, or have your accountant review them. After your review, come up with a list of questions based on what you find. If they don’t provide you with their financial statements, then look for another organization that will.
